With immediate effect, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI – Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur) will continue to provide funding support for the procurement of electric vehicles and the associated charging infrastructure required for their operation. Municipal fleets and vehicles that are used in a municipal context are eligible to receive funding support.

This fourth call for funding specifically supports municipalities that have not yet received funding since the amendment of the funding guideline in 2017.

Depending on the size of the company, the amount of the funding for commercial enterprises amounts to 40 to 60 percent of the additional investment costs. In non-commercial areas, vehicle procurement is generally supported with 75 percent of the additional investment costs. In financially weak municipalities this can even increase up to as much as 90 percent.

The development of application-oriented municipal electric mobility concepts will also be promoted with a further funding call. It is primarily aimed at municipalities that do not receive support from the master plans for the “Sofortprogramm saubere Luft 2017-2020” immediate action programme for clean air. Applications for both calls can be submitted until 31 August 2018.

All relevant documents for the submission of project applications are available on the federal government’s easyonline portal (in German): www.foerderportal.bund.de/easyonline

The BMVI funding programme and the corresponding funding areas are listed under the following headings:
Fördermaßnahme: Projektförderung Elektromobilität des BMVI (Funding measure: BMVI project funding for electric mobility)
Förderbereich: Fahrzeuge und Ladeinfrastruktur (Funding area: vehicles and charging infrastructure)
Förderbereich: kommunale Elektromobilitätskonzepte (Funding area: municipal electric mobility concepts)

The call for funding is now available here on the NOW-Homepage.

The basis for the current funding call is the Electric Mobility Funding Guideline of 09.06.2015 (Update: 05.12.2017). The National Organisation Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NOW) is responsible for the overall coordination of the funding measure and in particular for managing the programmatic accompanying research. The BMVI has commissioned the project administrator Jülich (PtJ) to implement the funding measure.
