Fuel cells Instead of diesel generators: Does the green alternative pay off?
Around one billion people worldwide live without a reliable electricity connection. This meand that environmentally harmful diesel generators are therefore still a mainstay, particularly in the provision of local energy supplies. A new publication by NOW GmbH reveals the circumstances under which green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies are potentially worthwhile as an environmentally friendly alternative in decentralised energy supply.
Export Initiative for Environmental Protection (EXI): International exchange on green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in decentralized energy supply
On 30 November 2023 in Berlin, those implementing projects funded under the Export Initiative for Environmental Protection (EXI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environmental, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV – Bundesministerium für Umweltschutz, Naturschutz, nukleare Sicherheit und Verbraucherschutz), met for the first time.
EXI project HyTrA – First demonstrator goes into operation in South Africa
The objective of the HyTrA project (Hydrogen Tryout Areal) is to establish the use of hydrogen technology for decentralized electricity supply in South Africa. Decentralised stand-alone networks are to form the basis for advancing a reliable, environmentally-friendly and CO2-neutral electricity supply. On 13 July 2023, the first demonstrator of the project was launched in Cape Town, South Africa, and was attended by project leader ZUG gGmbH as well as NOW GmbH.
Federal Ministry for the Environment launches 7th funding round of the Export Initiative Environmental Protection (EXI)
The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV – Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, nukleare Sicherheit und Verbraucherschutz) has launched the new funding round of the “Export Initiative Environmental Protection” (EXI – Exportinitiative Umweltschutz). Project outlines can be submitted until 1 April 2023. NOW GmbH is acting as the contact for the area of “green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in decentralized energy supply”.
