The BMVI is continuing to support the development of electric vehicle fleets and their charging infrastructure. As part of this, conceptual studies are playing their role in the market ramp-up of electric mobility. From now on municipalities, municipal companies and now for the first time, commercial companies can apply for funding of application-oriented electric mobility concepts.

The focus is on the following priorities:

  • Electrification of municipal and commercial fleets including charging infrastructure
  • Fundamentals of developing municipal/regional public charging infrastructure
  • Integration of municipal and commercial e-vehicles in intermodal transport and logistics concepts and mobility services

The application deadline is 17/05/2021.

This funding call for concepts is the third call under the new funding guideline on electric mobility following its publication on 24 December 2020. The BMVI has already been supporting battery-electric market preparation and the market ramp-up since 2010. Under the BMVI’s electric mobility funding guideline, four calls on electric mobility concepts were issued over the past five years. This has resulted in around 200 concepts being supported by the BMVI. More than half of these have already been completed.

The new funding guideline, which will run until the end of 2025, will continue to fund battery-electric applications in the funding priorities specified since 2015. The guideline focusses on the market ramp-up and supports the conversion of municipal and commercial fleets with high transport volumes to battery-electric vehicles. The charging infrastructure necessary for the operation of the vehicles will simultaneously be funded.

Applications are to be submitted via the easyonline portal to Project Manager Jülich (Projektträger Jülich (PtJ)), who along with NOW GmbH, are available by email and telephone to address queries about the submission process or programmatic support on the electric mobility funding guideline.
