Recycling is a prerequisite for societal acceptance of electric mobility in Europe. In addition, because of the limited availability of resources, recycling is also an issue of economic sustainability. China in particular has recognised the economic potential of recycling. A market or an efficient closed loop management which ensures that above all, car batteries will be recycled, does not yet exist however.
