The transition from traditional combustion vehicles to alternative drives is an important factor of climate protection. The city of Kaiserslautern is setting a good example in now purchasing a further nine electric vehicles to replace older, combustion-engine service vehicles.

There are four vans and five small cars. Their purchase was agreed by the city council in November 2017 as a lighthouse project for the city’s climate protection efforts under the approval of the 100% Climate Protection Masterplan.

The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure is supporting the purchase as well as the necessary charging infrastructure under the ‘Local Electric Mobility’ programme in the amount of almost 181,000 euros.
