10 December 2020 is the submission deadline for the award procedure for “Framework conditions and market” accompanying research under the ‘Local Electric Mobility’ funding programme of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
The market development of electric vehicles has clearly gained momentum in 2020. Nevertheless, the number of vehicles on the road is still low compared to petrol and diesel vehicles. Over the next few years, development will continue to depend considerably on state support measures, as well as political and social framework conditions. The biggest obstacle at present to the market ramp-up of electric vehicles is the lack of vehicle availability, and this will be resolved in the coming years by the model offensive announced by automotive manufacturers and obligations arising from the EU’s fleet consumption limits.
For the “Framework conditions and market” accompanying research, the following three priorities emerge:
- Market development forecast until 2030 and identification of funding required.
- Monitoring and analysis of market development in the area of electric mobility in up to seven selected international markets, creation of systematic country portraits on the specific political and legal framework conditions in these markets and identification of success factors and ‘lessons learned’ for German development.
- Preparation of an application- and implementation-oriented guide based on the evaluation of procurement funding in the framework of the BMVI funding programme: ‘Local Electric Mobility’, a more in-depth examination of procurement processes for electric vehicles and of important individual aspects pertaining to integrating electric vehicles in municipal and commercial fleets. Establishment of a working group: ‘Procurement and integration of e-vehicles in fleets’’ (WG Fleets & Electric Mobility) within the funding programme with relevant stakeholders.
