The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV – Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr) is supporting local authorities and publicly-owned institutions in the electrification of their vehicle fleets. Today, a new call for funding for the procurement of electric vehicles and the associated charging infrastructure starts within the scope of the Electric Mobility Funding Guideline.

Funding is provided for 40 percent of the additional costs associated with the purchase of an electric vehicle compared to a reference vehicle with an internal combustion engine, as well as for the charging infrastructure required to operate the vehicle in question. If the vehicles are used to fulfil public service duties, for example in the area of water supply or waste disposal, a funding of 90 percent of the additional investment costs can be applied for.

Projects that are eligible for funding are those with an investment volume of between 21,000 euros and up to 1 million euros (net) per institution. A prerequisite is that the passenger cars and light vehicles are powered 100 percent by electricity from renewable sources.

A total of 10 million euros is available for this purpose. Applications can be submitted until 8 June 2023.

All documents and information on the funding guideline and the calls can be found on the websites of Project Management Jülich (PtJ) and the programme company NOW GmbH:
