The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) will soon again be funding the procurement of electric vehicles and the charging infrastructure they require to operate. The next funding call is set to be published at the beginning of June – municipalities are eligible to apply.

Playing a pioneering role in climate protection, it is particularly important to support them in converting to climate-neutral fleets.

Applications can be submitted via the easy-Online-funding portal, and specific deadlines will follow soon.

 The following will be funded:

  • Vehicle classes M1 (cars, including for individual funding with a max. of 8 seats, not including the driver’s seat), L2e, L5e, L6e und L7e (light vehicles) as well as
  • The charging infrastructure required for operation.

The minimum funding contribution amounts to 25,000 euros, the maximum grant per municipality is 500,000 euros (gross). If the grants do not constitute aid, then the funding rate can be 90 per cent of the additional investment costs, and for vehicles used in the commercial area of a municipality, the rate is 40 per cent of additional investment costs.

Information on the funding guideline

Funding is provided on the basis of the current electric mobility funding guideline of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV). It was published on 24 December 2020 in the Federal Gazette (BAnz). There is therefore a basis for funding until 2025.
