Owners of electric cars can recharge their batteries free of charge from 24 June in Plön. The district has installed a charging station with two outlets in the parking lot located at Hamburger Strasse.

Vehicles can be plugged in directly in front of the entrance to the vehicle registration office. Additional charging points are also to be set up at seven further locations in 2019.

The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI – Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur) is supporting the construction of the charging stations with a total of EUR 44,000 of funding from the federal “Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles” programme. At least for a test phase lasting one year, drivers pay nothing for the electricity. Only green electricity is used.
