A workshop of the Clean Power Net (CPN) on 3 May 2018 at Stadtwerke Düsseldorf offered decision-makers from the energy and water industries the opportunity to find out about the advantages, opportunities and challenges of fuel cells for the reliable supply of power.
The focus was on possible applications of the technology in distribution network operations. Users from the BOS digital radio network in Brandenburg and from the Düsseldorf Netzgesellschaft network company reported on their fuel cell experiences. Emission-free power generation, long bridging times with high reliability and service life as well as modular expandability offer many interesting applications for fuel cells in the area of backup power supply. Due to decreasing costs, low maintenance and various funding possibilities within the scope of the National Innovation Programme Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP II), many products are already economically competitive.
