Steffen Bilger, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, today presented the results report from ‘Retrofitting’ the task force.

This contains a catalogue of criteria with minimum requirements for retrofitting conventionally driven commercial vehicles with alternative, climate-protecting drives. The criteria catalogue serves as a guide on basic safety and quality standards for vehicle retrofitters and buyers of converted vehicles.

Steffen Bilger: “Constructive exchange with over 60 players in this sector has demonstrated that there are numerous innovative approaches to converting diesel-operated commercial vehicles to battery and fuel cell electric drives. To ensure safety and quality, the task force has compiled a catalogue of relevant requirements. It is a good basis for more commercial vehicles with alternative and climate-protecting drives – which we need for clean road freight transport.”

The suggestions of the task force players were gathered from an online survey and discussed in digital workshops. Based on the requirements, which were supported by an overwhelming majority, the BMVI produced the criteria catalogue as a core result of the task force.
