Project investigates potential for sustainable energy supply in the Havelland district
What is the hydrogen potential in the district of Havelland and how can various players there connect with each other? To answer these questions, the district has tasked the Reiner Lemoine Institute (RLI), the IAV Ingenieurgesellschaft Auto und Verkehr, Consulting4Drive and the Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility with conducting a feasibility study. The ‘H2VL’ project began with a digital launch event on Tuesday. The development of the district of Havelland as a hydrogen region under the National Innovation Programme for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP2) is funded by the BMDV. The funding guideline is coordinated by NOW GmbH and implemented by Project Management Jülich (PtJ).
“Hydrogen is a building block of sustainable energy supply with renewable energies, and it’s becoming increasingly more important. To build a functioning hydrogen economy in the Havelland district, it’s important to know the potential and to connect the various players with each other, says District Administrator Roger Lewandowski. “So I’m very happy that it’s really taking off and that together with our different project partners, we’re pooling the existing potential in our district to demonstrate together pioneering hydrogen possibilities.”
The aim of the H2VL project is to identify the different local players along the entire hydrogen value chain and support them in implementing their projects – from generation to storage to distribution. For example, workshops will be conducted locally. On Tuesday, the presentation of participating institutions in this process was first on the agenda.
Havelland is one of the winning regions of the second phase of the HyLand competition of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV). As a HyExpert region, the results of this study could become a model for other regions.
The first workshops on the topic of ‘Hydrogen demand and generation’ will take place at the end of September. Stakeholders from the Havelland who are interested in implementing local hydrogen projects can register at the KoopBB Plattform in the H2VL group or email . The H2VL project has a planned duration of one year.
