Last year, the city of Essen was selected as one of a total of 25 hydrogen regions in Germany within the framework of the HyLand regional funding of the BMVI. As one of 13 HyExperts, the region will receive €300,000 in funding to make its integrated regional hydrogen concept ready for implementation. In this context, the city of Essen is now inviting tenders for a feasibility study on an H2 ecosystem for emission-free and sustainable mobility in urban centres.

As part of this study, a concept for an H2 ecosystem in urban areas will be developed using the example of the city of Essen. The transformation pathways will take up existing infrastructures and describe challenges on the way to the target vision for the H2 ecosystem. The concept will be defined in more detail using the example of local public transport in the city of Essen.

The invitation to tender has been published on the NRW public procurement marketplace (in German):

The deadline for submissions is 12:00 noon, 24 September 2020.
