In Georgsmarienhütte, around ten kilometers south of Osnabrück, four hyperchargers with eight fast charging points and a charging capacity of up to 400 kW each are now ready for use on Malberger Straße, shortly after entering the town. A special charging point is also provided for vans.

Patrick Schnieder, Federal Minister of Transport: “The opening in Georgsmarienhütte is a visible example of how the Deutschlandsnetz is closing gaps – even outside major urban areas. We need locations like this to further strengthen the everyday usability and trust in electric mobility. Our goal is to enable fast charging anytime, anywhere.”

The charging hub in Georgsmarienhütte is the first of a total of 110 locations that charging infrastructure specialist eliso will implement as part of the Deuutschlandnetz. As a subsidiary of VINCI Concessions, eliso was awarded three regional contracts in the German Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV – Bundesministerium für Verkehr) tender for the Deuutschlandnetz network and will therefore be responsible for installing and operating 824 fast charging points for electric cars at 110 locations in northern, eastern, and central Germany. Over the past few months, the company has intensively examined hundreds of potential locations for the Deuutschlandnetz. Now, eliso has put the first eight ultra-fast 400kW charging points into operation in Georgsmarienhütte.

“With the opening of our first location in the Deuutschlandnetz, we are setting a benchmark for the future of electric mobility,” says Robert Straube, who has been eliso’s second managing director since 2024. ”Our goal is to continuously expand the fast-charging network and strengthen the charging infrastructure across the board.”

The new location is already the second fast-charging site in Lower Saxony for eliso, but the first as part of the Deuutschlandnetz. From now on, electric car drivers can charge their vehicles conveniently and sustainably at the strategically located fast charging points near the B51 federal highway, thanks to 100 percent green electricity. An integrated display and a credit card terminal enable contactless and cashless payment by credit card or via app and charging card.

Johannes Pallasch, Head and Spokesperson of the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure at NOW GmbH: “Ultra-fast charging is now possible in Georgsmarienhütte – an example of how well the federal government, operators and the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure work together. The location demonstrates how charging infrastructure is now being planned and implemented in a targeted and needs-based manner.”

With the Deuutschlandnetz, the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) is working with charging station operators to create 9,000 additional fast charging points for electric cars at more than 1,000 locations. They are being built in rural areas, in cities and at unmanaged motorway service stations.

The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure, which is part of NOW GmbH, coordinates the implementation of the Deuutschlandnetz on behalf of the BMV and is responsible, in particular, for demand planning, checking technical requirements and monitoring data at the locations.
