Development of high volume, low cost H2 pressure tanks using a new carbon fibre winding technology – the TowPreg proprietary development
As part of the project, a 700bar Type IV hydrogen pressure tank will be developed, manufactured and validated using a TowPreg proprietary winding process. The pressure tank will be designed for a fuel cell passenger car and aims to help drive the market introduction and accelerate the market ramp-up. The TowPreg winding process increases the winding speed and material quality while reducing the use of carbon fibres. This should enable the realisation of large volumes and a reduction in product costs.
