The Allgäu region has launched a feasibility study in record time that will detail the potential of hydrogen as a local energy source. The study is a joint project of the district of Oberallgäu and the town of Kempten.
Engineering company bluemove consulting GmbH was awarded the overall contract for the feasibility study with managing director and overall project leader Arthur Dornburg. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Werner Mehr, Kempten University of Applied Sciences is providing scientific support.
The study is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure as part of the HyLand funding – Hydrogen regions in Germany. The “HyAllgäu” project was selected as one of 13 HyExpert regions in the “HyLand” competition. The HyExpert funding is focused on regions with initial project experience and knowledge of hydrogen. HyExperts each receive 300,000 euros to develop and calculate concrete projects ideas for hydrogen concepts.
