Flexibly structured gas diffusion layers from carbon fibre rovings
The current common use of randomly laid fibre structures based on carbonised short fibres for the production of gas diffusion layers (GDL) offers potential for improvement with regard to their properties. By substituting the fibre material and targeted textile processing steps, GDLs are to be improved in terms of their electrical and mechanical properties. In the long term, this will lead to a reduction in manufacturing costs, an improvement in the performance of the GDL and thus to increased competitiveness relative to competitors and competing technologies.
