Currently, bus transport is still based almost exclusively on the use of diesel-powered vehicles. By converting buses to alternative and low-emission drives, a contribution can also be made to fewer greenhouse gases and cleaner air. At the same time, these buses contribute to noise reduction.
The focus of the funding is on the procurement of buses with alternative drives based on battery, battery overhead line and fuel cell technology, as well as buses powered 100% by methane generated from biomass. In addition, the procurement of charging and hydrogen and methane refueling infrastructure for the operation of the buses and the preparation of feasibility studies are supported.
