The Coradia iLint, Alstom’s unique regional hydrogen fuel cell train, wins the GreenTec Award 2018 in the category Mobility by Schaeffler. The award was presented on May 4, 2018 at the production plant of the French railway manufacturer Alstom in Salzgitter (Lower Saxony).

In the presence of GreenTec Awards initiator Sven Krüger, the jury members Prof. Tim Hosenfeldt, Head of Central Innovation at Schaeffler, and Dr. Joachim Damasky, Managing Director of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA – Verband der Automobilindustrie), and Patron of the Mobility category, presented the GreenTec Awards certificate to the winner. TÜV NORD and NOW GmbH National Organisation Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology, which is partner to the GreenTec Awards, also took part in the preliminary award ceremony.

Alstom was the first supplier to bring this emission-free technology to series production with the Coradia iLint fuel cell train. A total of 14 fuel cell trains will be manufactured at the Salzgitter plant and are scheduled to transport passengers between Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde and Buxtehude from December 2021. They replace the diesel railcars of the public transport operator Elbe-Weser-Verkehrsbetriebe (evb) and reduce pollutant emissions to zero in daily operation.
