On behalf of NOW GmbH, the Institute for Environmental Technology and Energy Economics (IUE – Institut für Umwelttechnik und Energiewirtschaft) of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH – Technische Universität Hamburg) has conducted a study on the potential of renewable methane in Germany as a fuel for ships and heavy commercial vehicles.

Based on scenarios on the development of LNG/CNG demand in shipping and heavy goods transport as well as on the infrastructural requirements for the production of renewable methane in Germany, the study investigated the development and substitution potential as well as the resulting greenhouse gas reduction potential up to the year 2030.

During the online seminar, the study results will be presented and discussed with experts from vehicle/engine manufacturer companies, renewable methane suppliers and the scientific community.

Online seminar (in German) on 10.06.2021 (Thursday), 2:00pm – 4:30pm

Register now (in German)

Moderation: Dr.-Ing. Christopher Stanik (NOW GmbH)

Agenda:

  1. Presentation of the results of the study “Potentials of renewable methane as fuel for ships and heavy-duty vehicles in Germany – A consideration of volume potentials and their climate impact” (IUE/TUHH).
  2. Overview of funding support for renewable fuels (NOW GmbH)
  3. Panel discussion on the study results with experts from vehicle/engine manufacturer companies, providers of renewable methane and the scientific community
