Road freight transport, which is still largely based on diesel engines, causes around one-third of our transport sector’s carbon emissions. This is set to change. By 2030, around one-third of the mileage in heavy road freight transport is to be accounted for by electric vehicles or electricity-based fuels – as defined by the German government in its 2030 climate protection programme.
With the overall concept for climate-friendly commercial vehicles (Gesamtkonzept klimafreundliche Nutzfahrzeuge), the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) has developed a long-term roadmap for implementing the measures from the climate protection programme and has outlined a path toward decarbonising road freight transport. In addition to infrastructure development and the regulatory framework, an important component of the BMVI’s package of measures is vehicle funding.
On 2 August 2021, the first funding call of the funding programme for climate-friendly commercial vehicles was published. Applications for funding for commercial vehicles with electric drive systems (battery, fuel cell or overhead line) can be submitted from 16 August. Complete information can be found here (in German).
Find out exactly what this funding scheme entails, who can apply for funding and what needs to be taken into account during our free online seminar with the granting authority or project management agency, the Federal Office for Goods Transport (Bundesamt für Güterverkehr), and NOW GmbH on 12 August 2021. Furthermore, we have planned enough time to answer your questions.
