With the Road Safety Pact in 2021, the federal, state and local governments defined for the first time a joint strategy with an overall national goal: The number of road fatalities in Germany is to be reduced by 40 percent by 2030 and the number of serious injuries significantly reduced. With the Road Safety Pact, the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV – Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr) is pursuing a broad approach that involves the federal government, the federal states and municipal umbrella organisations, but also the expert public, even more than before.
