A recent study by the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure offers the first comprehensive technical and legal inventory of the environmental impact of charging infrastructure in Germany.

Entitled “Immissions at Charging Locations” (“Immissionen an Ladestandorten”), the study highlights key challenges in immission control and shows which legal requirements apply to the various immissions arising from noise, electromagnetic fields (EMF), light and heat and how these affect the operation and choice of location for charging infrastructure. The results provide decision-makers and operators with valuable information on how the environmental impact of charging stations can be minimized.

The publication of the study is part of measure 51 of the Charging Infrastructure Master Plan II.
