As part of the HYPOS project INES, the project partners have spent more than three and a half years researching the safety of hydrogen applications. At the end of the project, a hydrogen safety guide has been prepared to serve as a guide for future hydrogen projects.

The guide contains safety-related and organisational information that enables the safe operation of facilities for hydrogen production, transport, storage and utilisation.

For more than three and a half years, the INES project partners TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH, Dresden University of Technology, Dr.-Ing. Veenker Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and Fraunhofer IMWS worked on the issue of the safety of new hydrogen technologies. The aim of the joint project was to analyse the specific hazards of hydrogen technologies and to develop a methodology for an integrative safety assessment of the technical-technological value chain of “Power-to-X” technologies. The focus of the INES project was to accompany further HYPOS projects in terms of safety issues. The intention is to offer the stakeholders a uniform approach for the recording and assessment of risks.
