Hydrogen reality check: How regions are driving the uptake

Progress in the hydrogen economy is most evident where projects are being implemented: at the regional level. The 5th HyLand Symposium, hosted by the Federal Ministry of Transport[KH1.1] on 16 June and organised by NOW GmbH, will highlight just how far the uptake has actually progressed.

It is precisely these regional realities that come together at the 5th HyLand Symposium: A forum where it becomes clear how far the roll-out has actually progressed and where, and why, it is facing obstacles. The event brings together those stakeholders who experience hydrogen in their day-to-day work – operators, local authorities, clusters, airports and manufacturers. They will report on permits that can save or cost months, on business models that are already working in transport, and on regulatory requirements that are ambitious but do not always fit the reality of the projects.

The symposium will focus on the three key elements of the hydrogen value chain: applications, infrastructure and production.

About HyLand

HyLand – Hydrogen regions in Germany is a competition launched by the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) in 2019. HyLand encourages players in all regions of Germany to initiate, plan and implement hydrogen-related concepts. The objective of the competition is to identify and promote the most innovative and promising regional concepts. In the first two phases of the HyLand programme, already 54 regions were funded and supported in establishing a hydrogen economy in the following three categories: HyStarter, HyExperts and HyPerformer. Many regions have already submitted their final reports and feasibility studies and are about to enter their next development phase. Further information on HyLand I + II as well as the final reports can be found here: www.hy.land.
