Fastned, the European fast-charging company, has today opened its second fast-charging station as part of the Deutschlandnetz in Bad Driburg, North-Rhine Westphalia. The fast-charging station, located directly on the B64 federal highway, provides electric drivers with a total of eight charging points, each with a charging capacity of 400 kW in the middle of the Teutoburg forest.
“With every new fast-charging station, we are further advancing the expansion of charging infrastructure in Germany. At Fastned, our approach is to get the best out of every location – and that’s exactly what we have done here in Bad Driburg. We have exceeded the requirements of the Deutschlandnetz: we have built a roof over the fast-charging station in our customary Fastned design so that it is clearly visible, to protect our customers from wind and the weather. We have also integrated seating and there is a bakery nearby as well as a supermarket, so that our customers can relax and recharge before resuming their journey”, said Linda Boll, Country Director of Fastned Germany.
More flexibility for electric drivers in Bad Driburg
Hartmut Höppner, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport: “With around 1,000 additional Deutschlandnetz charging locations, we are creating a nationwide charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. This makes electric mobility an attractive alternative to an increasing number of drivers. The Fastned charging park opened today as part of the Deutschlandnetz offers an impressive eight ultra-fast charging points and ultimate convenience. Fastned’s commitment shows that companies are increasingly recognising the business potential of electric mobility and are ready to invest in it. That’s good news for the climate as well as our country’s economy.”
“We welcome the Fastned company to Bad Driburg and are delighted with the new service for our citizens, guests and all commuters who can now discover this additional infrastructure on their electric vehicle journey. We see this as a real win”, said the deputy mayor of Bad Driburg, Detlef Gehle.
“In the name of the entire Fastned team, I would like to thank the site owner Mr. Goeken, neighbours and the authorities for the excellent collaboration. Thanks to their support we succeeded in quickly building a reliable and convenient fast-charging facility for electric drivers here in Bad Driburg,” concluded Linda Boll, Country Director of Fastned Deutschland.
Expansion of the fast-charging infrastructure continues
In addition to today’s opening in Bad Driburg, Fastned has recently commissioned its third station as part of the Deutschlandnetz in Herzogenrath. The new fast-charging station is located in the immediate vicinity of the A4 and offers eight charging points, each with a charging capacity of up to 400 kW. Fastned now operated 42 fast-charging stations in Germany and provides electric drivers with an increasing number of opportunities to conveniently and quickly recharge, whether for short or long journeys.
About the Deutschlandnetz
The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) is creating 9,000 additional fast-charging points for electric cars. Around 900 locations are in urban and rural areas, 200 directly at unmanaged motorway rest areas. When all sites are completed in 2026, drivers will be able to find the nearest fast-charging station quickly and easily throughout Germany. The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure, under the umbrella of NOW GmbH, coordinates the implementation of the Deutschlandnetz on behalf of the BMDV and is responsible in particular for demand planning, checking technical requirements as well as data monitoring of the locations.
