Transport Logistic - the specialist conference for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management - will take place from 4 to 6 May 2021. On 6 May from 1 to 2 p.m., participants can look forward to a session from NOW GmbH on the subject of “Towards Zero Emission Mobility – Alternative Drives for Commercial Vehicles”.
The transition of heavy road freight transport to alternative drive systems is essential for achieving the climate targets in the transport sector. To achieve these goals, one third of commercial vehicle mileage should be electric or based on electricity-based fuels by 2030. But how can climate-friendly commercial vehicles be put on the roads quickly to accelerate the decarbonisation of road freight transport?
The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI – Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur) has developed a roadmap for the transformation of heavy road freight transport with the “Overall Concept for Climate-Friendly Commercial Vehicles”, which Dr. Hendrik Haßheider, Head of the Alternative Fuels and Powertrains, Infrastructure, Energy division at the BMVI, will present in greater detail during the session. In the process, he will also address the implementation measures involved. Marc Weider from NOW GmbH will then go into more detail about the new commercial vehicle funding guideline and provide an overview of the market situation in Germany: How many commercial vehicles with alternative drives are on our roads? What technical innovations are there? And what challenges do we have to overcome?
To conclude, the companies MAN and FAUN, which are already successfully focusing on mobility with batteries and fuel cells, will present their vehicles and report on their experiences with the transition to alternative drive systems.
