NaKoMo lecture “Urban cable cars in public transport”
on 01.02.2023, 10:00-10:45 a.m

Many of us associate cable cars with skiing holidays, garden shows or hiking in the mountains. But they can also become part of public transport services, because they are space-saving, cost-effective and climate-friendly. As a result, numerous cities across Germany are considering the construction of urban cable car systems.

In the NaKoMo lecture, our speaker Sebastian Beck will present the recently published guide “Urban Cable Cars in Public Transport” (“Urbane Seilbahnen im öffentlichen Nahverkehr”), with which the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV – Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr) offers municipalities guidance on where the use of a cable car is worthwhile and what it can achieve in public transport. The guide also includes a look at existing international projects and concrete recommendations for action. During the presentation, the participants will also be given the opportunity to ask questions and to join in the discussion about the potential of urban cable cars.

We look forward to sharing views with you!

Within the scope of the NaKoMo lectures, we will inform about current topics concerning sustainable mobility and discuss existing challenges and innovative approaches to solutions in this field together with participants from the federal government, federal states, state networks, municipalities and municipal companies.
