Concluding symposium of the accompanying research project “Innovative drives in road-based local public transport” (“Innovative Antriebe im straßengebundenen ÖPNV”).

The tightening of fleet emission and minimum procurement targets at the national and European level is presenting challenges to companies that supply vehicles and components, as well as to transport operators and municipal companies that use the vehicles. In particular, this relates to offering competitive solutions on the market and integrating them into day-to-day operations. The currently still high investment costs and new requirements for energy supply play a decisive role here.

The concluding symposium of the accompanying research project “Innovative Drives in Road-Based Public Transport” will provide information on these issues as well as on funding opportunities for zero-emission buses, details on the latest technical developments, and recommendations for the use of the various technology options.

The BMVI supports the conversion of public transport to climate-friendly drives with various funding programmes. The accompanying research supports funding processes and evaluates further technical developments of emission-free drives. The results of several years of research work are now presented in the form of recommendations for action for a successful mobility transition.

The symposium will be complemented by reports on the experiences made by transport companies in the application of the technology and the conversion of depot fleets and facilities. Representatives of transport companies and municipalities, vehicle and component manufacturers, system suppliers, politicians and scientists will have a forum for dialog and the exchange of experiences.
