Electric car drivers can charge at a minimum of 200 kW in the car park in Homburg. The maximum possible charging power is 400 kW per charging point. In addition to short charging times, the location offers a high level of convenience: It is accessible around the clock, covered, illuminated and offers flexible payment options. Toilet facilities and catering services are available during the hardware store’s opening hours. There are access routes and appropriate loading bays for long vehicles and vehicles with trailers. Extra-wide, barrier-free loading bays are also available.
Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder: “With the new fast-charging location in Homburg, we are sending a strong signal for the expansion of the charging infrastructure in Saarland. I am particularly pleased that Pfalzwerke is opening the first Deutschlandnetz regional location in Saarland, not far from my home in the Eifel region. Here, where people live, work and travel, we are creating a reliable option for fast charging with the Deutschlandnetz, even away from the major metropolitan areas. This not only strengthens the everyday usability of electric mobility, but also confidence in climate-friendly mobility.”
Pfalzwerke is contributing to the realisation of the Deutschlandnetz with around 400 new charging points at 40 locations. With the Deutschlandnetz, the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) is creating 9,000 additional fast charging points nationwide at over 1,000 locations in rural areas, in cities and at unmanaged motorway service stations. The aim is to provide a comprehensive, user-friendly fast-charging infrastructure. The federal government is investing around €2.3 billion in the development of the Deutschlandnetz, which is growing steadily. More than 130 Deutschlandnetz locations have now been opened and a good 100 more are under construction. The network is expected to be largely operational by the end of 2026.
Johannes Pallasch, Head and Spokesperson of the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure: “The new Deutschlandnetz location in Homburg shows what modern charging infrastructure is all about speed, convenience and reliability. As at all locations in the Deutschlandnetz, 200 kilowatts of charging power per point are guaranteed at all times – even when all connections are in use at the same time. With charging capacities of up to 400 kW, the infrastructure is also future-proofed to cope with increasing vehicle performance in the coming years.”
The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure coordinates the implementation of the Deutschlandnetz on behalf of the BMV, and under the umbrella of NOW, and is responsible in particular for demand planning, testing technical requirements and data monitoring at the locations.
