Today, the vast majority of road freight transport is based on vehicles with combustion engines running on diesel fuel. The German government's climate protection goals for the transport sector require ambitious measures to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and to decarbonise the transport sector almost completely by 2050.
NOW GmbH advises the Federal Government on alternative drives and fuels, and coordinates funding programmes. Axel Blume will outline the climate policy objectives and the status quo in road freight transport and present the measures of the BMVI on alternative drive systems and fuels.

Axel Blume studied geography at the TU Dresden and has been working as Mobility and Fuels Strategy (MFS) Programme Manager for NOW GmbH since 2016. He oversees support measures and model projects in the field of commercial vehicles and road freight transport with alternative drives and fuels.
