Hydrogen will be an important building block for realising the regional energy and mobility transition. In 2019, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI – Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur) held a nationwide competition and selected nine regions to develop regional hydrogen concepts with the support of experts and to establish a network of stakeholders for the implementation of the ideas.
The district of Marburg-Biedenkopf was selected as one of the regions and in recent months has developed a technology concept for its own regional hydrogen production and infrastructure, as well as identifying application options for the use of green hydrogen. This concept is to be presented to the political committees and decision-makers of the town and district at a concluding event.
