The Strategic Forum on Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) established by the European Commission (COM) in 2018 has identified hydrogen technologies and systems as one of six strategic value chains that can contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the European economy, maintaining its technological leadership and ensuring supply security.

To support this value chain, strategically important projects from different member states that are characterised by high technological or financial risk will be linked, thus creating added value for the entire European internal market and its society as a whole.

The Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi – Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie) is planning, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI – Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur) and the German federal states, to provide funding for projects in the field of hydrogen technologies and systems.

BMVI is responsible for the technical and budgetary aspects of potential projects relating to transport and mobility applications.

Projects in the fields of hydrogen production, infrastructure, use in industry and use in mobility are eligible for support under the Hydrogen IPCEI.

The BMVI invites representatives from industry to a web seminar on 16.12.2020 at 2 p.m., to learn about the procedure and the topics related to the transport sector (fuel cell/vehicle development and production as well as refuelling infrastructure), and to initiate an exchange between the various stakeholders.
