About SGEC

The virtual “Sino German Electro Mobility Innovation and Support Center” (SGEC) bundles activities and projects of the German-Chinese cooperation on electromobility with battery and hydrogen fuel cell technology. Partners are the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) of the People’s Republic of China. The center is managed jointly by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) and the National Organization Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NOW) as the lead organizations of the respective ministries. Both countries have parallel coordination structures and only finance their national activities. The aim of the SGEC is to advance the market ramp-up of battery and FC electric vehicles in China and Germany, including on the basis of joint R&D projects.

The cooperation focuses on the following topics:

  • Topic 1 – Battery electric mobility (incl. charging infrastructure) T
  • Topic 2 – Hydrogen fuel cell mobility (incl. infrastructure)
  • Topic 3 – Safety (Battery and Hydrogen) and RCS
  • Topic 4 – Integration of renewable energies (incl. electricity-based fuels)
