From now until 12 June 2021, applications may be submitted for the third funding call on the guideline for equipping and retrofitting seagoing vessels to use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel.
The funding guideline from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) grants subsidies for investment in LNG propulsion for seagoing vessels of up to 40% in principle, and even up to 60 per cent depending on the size of the company.
The use of LNG as a marine fuel makes an important contribution to decreasing greenhouse emissions and air pollution in shipping. The funding guideline and the respective funding calls advance the use of LNG as a fuel in German shipping and represent a concrete implementation of the Mobility and Fuels Strategy (MFS).
