Fuel cell integration in the laboratory and in operations

The Fuel Cell Integration in the Laboratory and Operational Optimisation (BILBO – Brennstoffzellen-Integration im Labor und Betriebs-Optimierung) research project focuses on establishing the foundations and gaining acceptance for the use of hydrogen and the operation of fuel cells on board of aircraft and at airports. To achieve this, the fuel cell and associated subsystems, such as an environmentally friendly fire extinguishing system, are to be further developed into a commercial application. Furthermore, the project is investigating innovative system architectures and specifications for unconventional approaches that can bring new impetus to aviation.
