Development of a mass-produced electric compressor to increase the power density of fuel cells
The use of compressors is a common and efficient method to increase the power density of fuel cells and consequently to reduce the size and costs of fuel cell systems. In the FCC project, a series-ready electrically-powered air compressor is therefore to be developed. Through full integration of the power electronics and by maintaining a strict focus on durability, manufacturability and low production costs, the aim is to develop a compact solution that will meet the performance and price requirements of the automotive industry, for the first time.
