The market ramp-up of proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell technology requires new concepts for manufacturing the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) with shorter cycle times and increased resource efficiency. This is the only way to achieve the industrially required quantities at the targeted cost levels. To achieve this, suitable, high-rate coating processes must be developed and established. In the TiKaBe project, catalyst ink formulations adapted to the favored coating processes are being developed and experimentally validated.
