Pfalzwerke opens the largest Deutschlandnetz fast-charging park to date in Göppingen

On Tuesday, 27/05/2025, Pfalzwerke Aktiengesellschaft opened the largest Deutschlandnetz charging park to date in Göppingen.

Located on Hohenstaufenblick 1, 73035 Göppingen, in the carpark of the vocational training centre and in the immediate vicinity of the B10, Pfalzwerke now provides convenient and barrier-free charging for electric vehicles at six fast-charging columns and 12 charging points, as well as other user-friendly services.

In September 2023, Pfalzwerke was awarded the contract from the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) for the Göppingen search area, among others, in other to construct a fast-charging park in Göppingen. Together with the city of Göppingen, a conveniently-located site was scouted that would be attractive to e-car drivers. The construction phase lasted from December 2024 until May 2025.

With the Deutschlandnetz, the BMV is creating an additional 9,000 fast-charging points at more than 1,000 locations in rural regions, cities and unmanaged motorway service stations. The aim is to provide nationwide, user-friendly fast-charging infrastructure.

City Manager for Construction Eva Noller: “The opening of the Deutschlandnetz charging park is a significant step regarding sustainable mobility in our region. Electric mobility plays a key role in the transport transition and contributes to making Göppingen both fit for the future and environmentally-friendly. Modern charging infrastructure allows us to create the necessary conditions to attract more people to climate-friendly mobility and increase the quality of life in our city.”

Pfalzwerke is helping to implement the Deutschlandnetz with around 400 new charging points at 40 locations. The company already operates a nationwide network with more than 1,750 charging points at over 420 locations.

The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure coordinates the implementation of the Deutschlandnetz under the umbrella of NOW GmbH and is responsible in particular for demand planning, checking technical requirements as well as data monitoring of the locations.

  • The Pfalzwerke fast-charging park comprises 6 charging columns with a total of 12 charging points with a capacity of at least 200 kW per charging point (max. up to 400 kW possible).
  • No special registration is required for use. Contactless payments can be made by app, with a charging card or credit card.
  • The charging hub has a roof, is illuminated at night and equipped with a photovoltaic system.
  • Modern sanitary facilities and seating are available.
  • Drive-through height is up to 4m; Drive-through facilities for extra-long vehicles or vehicles with trailers; comfortable charging spaces (3m x 5m) as well as extra-wide, barrier-free charging spaces.
