Municipalities and other public sector actors can now link their plots directly to a public tender in the FlächenTOOL (plot tool) of the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure. Each plot is automatically allocated to the corresponding tender via a link to the tendering platform.

This allows all participants to see at a glance which sites are part of an active tender. Charge point operators (CPOs) can therefore obtain an overview of the number of active tenders and their associated advertised plots. Using the filter function, FlächenTOOL users can search in a targeted way for publicly advertised plots and have them displayed simply. This makes the FlächenTOOL even more user-friendly.

Expanding charging infrastructure is critical to the success of electric mobility. Searching for and finding suitable plots for this can present a challenge for CPOs. From the municipalities’ point of view, the efficient use of plots within their areas also plays a key role.

FlächenTOOL is a digital matching platform where available plots for the installation of charging infrastructure are registered and can be found by investors. The FlächenTOOL now lists more than 2,000 properties that are available for building charging infrastructure in Germany. The digital platform began in November 2020 with the goal of making spaces available to all market participants in a non-discriminatory way.
