This includes static data such as the geographical location of charging points, the number and types of connections, operating hours and compatibility with vehicles, as well as certain dynamic data such as the current availability or occupancy of charging points and their operating status.
To ensure the smooth transmission of this data, Member States were required to set up a so-called national access point. Germany has fulfilled its obligation under Article 20(4) AFIR and provides public access to the data reported by CPOs and connected interfaces (APIs). The ‘Mobilithek’ (data platform) of the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) serves as the central platform for this purpose. There, the interfaces to the data already provided by the operators can be accessed.
With the publication of the DATEX II data profile in version 01-00-00, an important milestone has been reached: The standardised data model is now available in the Mobilithek. This means that the requirements for providing this data have been met and CPOs can now make their data available in a standard-compliant manner, thereby fulfilling the AFIR requirements. Use of the DATEX II standard will be mandatory from 14 April 2026.
