In Krumbach in Bavarian Swabia, E.ON has begun operating four fast-charging stations, each with two charging points, as part of the Deutschlandnetz. Eight e-vehicles can be charged simultaneously with up to 400 kilowatts. Modern e-cars will therefore be ready for the next stage of their journey within around 20 minutes.

The site is located directly on the B16 (Höllgehau roundabout, corner of Bahnhofstrasse), making it easy to reach for those travelling between the Bavarian forest and Allgäu as well as for local residents. Restaurants, a supermarket and other shops as well as toilets are within walking distance.

Design module displays the occupancy status and ad hoc charging prices

“Our Deutschlandnetz location in Krumbach is the first to be equipped with our T-pole, a T-shaped design module. This shows electric vehicle drivers on the access roads not only where they can find the charging stations, but through differently coloured illumination, it can also be clearly seen whether charging spaces are available. In addition, a display with the current kilowatt-hour price for ad-hoc charging is integrated into the T-pole. These features allow us to gather valuable information in Krumbach that we can use for other location planning”, said Ludolf von Maltzan, responsible for German business at E.ON Drive Infrastructure.

Dagmar Fehler, CEO and spokesperson at NOW GmbH: “The Deutschlandnetz will provide a comprehensive, demand-oriented and user-friendly charging infrastructure throughout Germany. Every new charging point makes electric mobility more appealing. In future, e-car drivers will be able to find an ultra-fast charging station everywhere they go. The new Krumbach location is another example of how quickly the expansion of Deutschlandnetz locations is progressing. Now there are already more than 40 new locations that have successfully began operation.”

As is the case with all charging stations from E.ON Drive Infrastructure, electric motorists in Krumbach will recharge their vehicles using electricity that is 100 per cent generated from renewable energies. In addition, an extra-wide charging space (3.5 metres) enables barrier-free charging and a charging space with a length of seven metres facilitates the charging of e-cars with trailers or large electric vans.

More than 170 E.ON fast-charging locations for the Deutschlandnetz

With the Deutschlandnetz, the Federal  Ministry for Transport (BMDV) together with charging station operators are creating 9,000 additional fast-charging points for electric cars at more than 1,000 locations. The BMDV is investing around 2.3 billion euros in total in the building and the operation of the sites. These are being built in rural regions, in cities and at unmanaged motorway rest areas. Additional E.ON locations for the expansion of the Deutschlandnetz are currently under construction.

Under the NOW GmbH umbrella, the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure coordinates the implementation of the Deutschlandnetz on behalf of the BMDV and is responsible in particular for demand planning, checking technical requirements as well as data monitoring of the locations.
