Japanese-German partnership on hydrogen and fuel cells

The Japanese New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and the German NOW GmbH signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as early as May 16, 2010. Both organizations are driving research, development and demonstration projects in their respective countries, thereby supporting the market launch of hydrogen technologies.

As part of this long-standing partnership, NEDO and NOW GmbH regularly exchange information on developments in Japan and Germany and conduct joint workshops.

In addition, the two institutions or Germany and Japan are working together on the implementation of the International Workshop on Hydrogen Infrastructure and Transportation. This workshop series offers a multinational platform for technical experts to collaborate on the development or adaptation of standards and regulations for hydrogen refueling.

The Japanese-German partnership on hydrogen also includes other multilateral formats, such as the IPHE and the IEA H2 TCP.
