Infrastructure

Electric mobility based on batteries or fuel cells requires demand-oriented charging and refuelling infrastructure. With the AFIR (Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation), the EU has set binding targets for its expansion.

We support the development of the hydrogen network and work closely with organisations and associations involved in defining rules and standards. The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure coordinates activities to expand charging infrastructure in Germany on behalf of the BMV. It supports planning, implementation and funding measures.

To better understand actual demand, the Centre collects relevant data, connects key stakeholders and shares its expertise. User needs are always at the centre of its work. How far has the expansion progressed, and where does further action remain necessary? These insights are made available through the StandortTOOL.

On behalf of the BMV, the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure, under the umbrella of the federally owned NOW GmbH, coordinates and controls activities for the expansion of charging infrastructure in Germany. The German Federal Government has defined binding greenhouse gas emissionreductions in the Federal Climate Change Act. To achieve this goal, renewable fuels play a decisive role, as not every application in transport can be electrified. The overall concept for renewable fuels of the Federal Ministry for Transport (BMV) comprises four funding measures that support both the further development and the market ramp-up of renewable fuels.
