Fuel Cell Bus Cluster
In the course of the transport transition, bus operators are gradually converting their fleets to drives with both battery and hydrogen technologies. This presents operators with major challenges that extend not only to the vehicles, but also to the associated infrastructure and the skills of their employees.
As part of this transformation, local transport companies have a strong interest in fuel cell buses, but there is still a considerable need for advice. This is where the German Fuel Cell Bus Cluster comes in, by promoting the exchange of experience on all aspects of fuel cell buses. The cluster is open to all German-speaking bus operators as an exchange platform – both public transport companies and private operators are welcome. The cluster brings together companies that have only recently started working with fuel cell buses with those that have been using these vehicles for some time, and they benefit from the latter’s wealth of experience. In this way, valuable insights can be shared and costly wrong decisions avoided.
The exchange focuses on the technical development of the vehicles, the vehicle range currently available on the market and the development of the necessary hydrogen infrastructure. To this end, suppliers contribute first-hand information to the cluster. Above all, however, the networking of companies with their peers is highly valued, as it significantly facilitates the exchange of experience. The cluster also provides information that can be used to weigh up ongoing and upcoming decisions in transport companies. It meets semi-annually at one of its member companies.

More InformationOrigin of the Fuel Cell Bus Cluster
The German Fuel Cell Bus Cluster originated from an initiative of the European Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) in 2015. Since then, the cluster has been continuously continued with the aim of supporting the growing use of fuel cell buses. The number of member companies has grown strongly in recent years and now stands at over 80. Membership of the cluster is free of charge.
The cluster is coordinated by the two companies EE Energy Engineers GmbH from Gelsenkirchen and hySolutions GmbH from Hamburg on behalf of NOW.
