Commercial Vehicle Monitor
How is the ramp-up of climate-friendly commercial vehicles developing in Germany? We have the latest data on climate-friendly commercial vehicles.
The ramp-up of climate-friendly commercial vehicles is gaining momentum. Initiated by the BMDV’s funding for climate-friendly commercial vehicles and infrastructure (KsNI), the proportion of zero-emission commercial vehicles in the medium and heavy vehicle segments has been increasing since 2022.
In our interactive commercial vehicle monitor, we visualize a comprehensive picture of this development: The dashboard shows the trucks and tractor units approved in Germany with climate-friendly drive technologies (electric commercial vehicles with battery and fuel cell, hydrogen combustion engines and plug-in hybrids) and enables a detailed evaluation by federal state, drive technology and commercial vehicle class – both for new registrations and for the vehicle stock.

Trucks and tractor units are presented together and classified according to permissible total weight in accordance with EU vehicle classes:
- Light: up to 3.5 tons GVW (corresponds to vehicle class N1)
- Medium: over 3.5 to 12 tons GVW (corresponds to vehicle class N2)
- Heavy: over 12 tons GVW (corresponds to vehicle class N3)
Please note the further information that you can find in the dashboard under the menu item “Notes” on the left-hand side.
