International Climate Projects

NOW GmbH supports the BMU (Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety) within the framework of the Environmental Technologies Export Initiative in activities for the use of climate-friendly hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

Use of climate-friendly hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in developing and emerging countries

The "Export Initiative for Environmental Technologies" of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU – Bundesministeriums für Umwelt, Naturschutz und nukleare Sicherheit), which was founded in 2016, promotes environmental technologies, environmental awareness and knowledge in order to make a concrete contribution to the sustainable development of other countries. At the same time, new sales markets for the export of German environmental know-how and technologies are to be identified. The export initiative's knowledge and technology transfer extends across the BMU's various areas of competence. One area of focus is that of environmentally friendly mobility.

In cooperation with the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), NOW GmbH supports the BMU in establishing a network in developing and emerging countries to prepare, coordinate and implement activities for the use of climate-friendly hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Through its strategic network with local industry partners, NOW GmbH will bring the status quo of hydrogen and fuel cell technology as well as current perspectives into the respective energy system considerations of the countries. Building upon this, the aim is to identify potential cooperation partners in emerging and developing countries for practical demonstration projects. The aim is to create the conditions for generating demand for German products in the field of environmental technologies and to establish the associated infrastructure.

German-Japanese cooperation on the climate-friendly application of power-to-gas technology

In cooperation with the responsible specialist unit of NEDO, NOW GmbH identifies and acquires partners from German and Japanese science and industry for the implementation of a joint cooperation project aimed towards the climate-friendly application of power-to-gas technology. It is within this framework that suitable sites for a demonstration project in Japan are to be defined. In addition, NOW GmbH will examine the identified project approaches for their feasibility for the implementation of a demonstration project.
