With the Electromobility Model Regions programme, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) supports the cross-sector cooperation of industry, science and the public sector in order to advance the integration of electromobility into everyday life.
The promotion of electromobility extends across all key areas of activity. Scientific accompanying research on overarching subjects is therefore also conducted to supplement the individual projects. All aspects regarding electromobility are examined here.
The National Development Plan has laid important foundations for the expansion of electromobility in Germany. The goal is to bring one million electric vehicles to the streets by 2020 and to develop the nation into a leading market and provider for electromobility. The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is taking a holistic approach open to all technology types comprising both fuel cell-electric drives with hydrogen as well as pure battery-electric drive technologies.
Projects in existing Model Regions, model projects in emerging regions and technology projects are supported. The subjects and goals of the projects in the Model Regions cover the entire spectrum of electromobility. Several overarching subject areas exist within the framework of the accompanying research, which help bring together the results of individual projects from the various regions onto a programmatic level and to also enable the exchange of experiences between the various players involved.
NOW is responsible for the implementation and coordination of the Electromobility Model Region funding programme. The BMVI ensures substantive coordination with other activities of the federal government and an embedding in a political context. Projektträger Jülich (PtJ) is responsible for project administration and supports the programme with legal advice on public funding.
