In order to stimulate the market, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is launching a new funding programme within the National Innovation Programme for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP 2). Technologically mature products are to be made competitive in the market. The BMVI is allocating about 250 million euro to the so-called NIP 2 for the period of 2017-2019.
Eligible for funding are:
- Vehicles (road, rail, waterway) and special-purpose vehicles used in logistics as well as corresponding refuelling infrastructure
- Electrolysis plants for generating hydrogen
- Non-stationary combined heat and power facilities
- Independent power supply for critical or off-grid infrastructure
The focus of the first call for proposals are fuel cell vehicles in local public transport and in commercial vehicle fleets comprising of at least three vehicles. Cities, municipalities and private investors are eligible to apply and applications may be submitted as of now.
