Private investors, cities and municipalities can now apply for funding support for the expansion of electric vehicle recharging infrastructure. The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI – Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur) is allocating a total of 300 million euros of funding as part of its “Aufbau einer Ladeinfrastruktur – LIS” (Development of Recharging Infrastructure) funding guideline during the period spanning 2017 to 2020 for the development of a comprehensive network of fast and regular speed recharging stations.
With this measure, a total of at least 15,000 recharging stations are to be put into operation. In addition to the establishment of charging points at new locations, the replacement of existing recharging infrastructure may also be eligible for funding if corresponding added value is thereby created.
The National Organisation for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NOW GmbH) is commissioned by the BMVI for the coordination and implementation of the recharging infrastructure funding guideline. The Federal Institute for Administrative Services (BAV –Bundesanstalt für Verwaltungsdienstleistungen) is the responsible project administrator and also assumes the task of processing applications.
